This series comprises four races including the Melbourne to Geelong Race on 8th September 2012. The other races will be 12-20 nautical mile courses around fixed or laid marks on Port Phillip. So if you are over the tempo of windward-leeward racing, short on crew, looking for a different challenge, then this is the series for you!

First off the mark to enter the Helly Hansen Winter Cruiser Series was Aidan Geysen with his Sunfast 3200, Streetcar. Aidan has been a regular competitor in ORCV events over the past twelve months and “loves the idea of the passage racing format for the Winter Cruiser Series”.  He is spruiking for competition and has encouraged Marg  Neeson , owner/skipper of Wild Child to enter. Wild Child is an Elan 310 –the only one of its kind in Australia.

The first race of the series will be preceded by the Annual Practice Flare Shoot. A great way to review your safety procedures aboard and familiarise your crew with the flares you carry.

If you plan to enter the racing division, don’t forget to renew your IRC certificate prior to the series.

Remember the Melbourne to Geelong Race on saturday 8th September- a great race and a fantatic way to wind up winter racing with a wonderful party and presentation hosted by The Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
