ORCV Latest News
A Touch of Bliss.
Just a little while ago RBYC ran the Brighton Ladies Skipper's Series. The weather was a little benign and in the end, the Sunday was a bit of a glass out. We have pics from the Saturday, courtesy of and © to Steb Fisher.
One half of the duo known as K2 got to be Captain Araldite for the day. Nice one Kate.
Team Audacious all set to go.
Glorious stuff really.
Oh. And the hits just keep on coming...
And no-one else around - Nice work!
Bag's full and the heady's on the way down. Done it before team? Arms crossed in fantasy island, looking after the backstay, is the other K, Ken.
Bonus points.
Now Ken - THIS would have been the time to put the message on the kite for Kate! Look at all these options...
Smiling all the way.
The ORCV's Sally Williams behind the helm.
The cruising Adams 12 they were using...
So they say, but not entirely convinced here... Sally told me that "... the heat is on , I have to defend my title. A good number of entrants and I think I'll have my work cut out for me against her Sister, Rosie, aboard Reckless and Jo with Spirit of Freya." Final results aren't in, as Sunday was a total glass out (Re-race Sun 6/6/10), but she's right. The work was hard.
Will I go back in or won't I? That is the question Sally...
It's this one here!
Yep. The Main looks better.
Sally would have been happy when there was enough breeze to get Adam's Rib moving.
More smiles and just tremendous light for shooting.
Emma-Kate came armed with smiles too.
Nice little downhill journey to be had by all.
Another 'Steb' on offer from the bow.
Clearly having a good time. Got a lot colder, later on.
Guys - Now it's Ladies day and they're the focus of our attention, OK...
Emma-Kate working back uphill.
Dodger down, Bimini off, but BBQ still there. Like your angle. Rare for me thanks.
No Specials that day, aboard Emma-Kate
David James took a team he's been working with, out on Ingenue.
Going the letterbox... (PS. I'm pretty sure the acronyms are Royal Brighton, Queenscliff, Port Douglas and Ocean Racing Club of Victoria - woo hoo!!!!!! Go the ORCV.)
Time to play catch up in the Office team... Good thing it wasn't howling, with the bag that far back.
Helmer's helping and I suspect David's absence from the scene may be to ensure things got back on track down below...
Tremendous! We're back on track. Sally is going to love the fact that she's in front here...
Nice little 'Steb' bow wave...
Some faces for people to recognise.
Obviously she's blissfully into sailing.
Hard at work and David ensuring education and safety reign supreme.
Downhill finish, by the looks of things...
That one there! Where? There.
Happy little Vegemites from Team Pandora. Driver, front and centre, is Mary-Alice Tedstone.
Going in next year's brochure, I'd say.
See. You've even got a choice Front cover and back cover...
Very comfortable on the day.
Marching in to the top mark I'd say
Smile from the boss. Always a good feature and a lovely 'Steb' in the sunlight too.
Go the Bag when you're ready.
Lots of eyes looking at the job at hand - good stuff.
Delightful.
Poster shot for women in sailing I would say. Do we have your permission for such please?
Flying Fox and the sunlight over the water. Almost a song that...
It looks a bit cool.
Chasing down the bigger stuff.
'spose you won't need to hang onto the tiller when it's a glass out like this...
There was wind out on the track though.
Absolutely always going to get featured with a shot like this. Well done Steb.
Very stylish indeed.
Now surely you could have got one tiny piece of vinyl cut for the day. Just a little 's'... On another note, someone needs to do a little clean up when you're finished with the Bag.
Team Blue hard at it.
Still looking for a little clean up when you can.
More faces to recognise.
Go the hoist (and watch the strings).
Poster shot for women in racing here, too.
Team Blue is now Team Red, BTW.
Steb. They should buy this from you...
It's like peering over the dashboard here on Get Smart. Chris Dickson used to have that problem, as well. They raised the whole poop deck for him on KZ-3 and KZ-5 (The first of the plastic fantastics in AC racing).
Loving the zeal on display here. I can actually feel it. Nice work.
Looking good.
You know, I really am not sure it gets much beter than this. Warmer maybe, but better may take some finding...
A bit of squirt was to be found, it would seem...
It got quite busy at the top mark, so it would seem.
Prepare yourself to follow your bliss...
