AWKR - What will you get?
Will it be like last Saturday (man that was cold and WET - I was there), or more like last Sunday, for this Queens Birthday Weekend and the Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta. Will it be a drifter? Nah, you go that out of the way for BLISS (original story attached to pic below, HERE).
Anyway. One thing I can tell you is that you have a poster shot. Gabrielle Beattie approved this shot of her above (© Steb Fisher) as our current hero pic for women in sailing. Nice one.
So to Jo Norbury, Jo Harpur, Rosie Colahan, Tanya Stanford, the ORCV's Sally Williams, Kathryn de Garis, Janina Goethel, J-A (Julie-Anne Hobbs) and all the competitors in the 21 boat fleet, we wish you a great regatta. May it not pour, be freezing and blow over 30, in which case Amanda Wakeham (the RO for the event) tells me you'll be in the bar.
Now whilst speaking of poster shots, I just had to drag out our current FDU hero shot (also © Steb Fisher). This is Patricia Laverty aboard Magazan 53, with the original piece HERE. Initially, Patricia was at pains to explain that is was nothing like what I had used in my caption, but quickly realised it is all just a bit of harmless fun. She's a fantastic foredeckie, I am told and also drives a boat called Corella, so Patricia is versatile, as well.
At any rate, well done to Lisa, Janina, Linda and Amanda in their 20th year of this RMYS event.
