ORCV Latest News - 2011 Sauna Sail.
Thermal Dynamics.
Fortunately for all, we're not going to get in to a narrow band of physics and split out the mathematical components thereof.
Our thermal dynamics relate to the event known as the Sauna Sail. Each Queen's Birthday weekend, Latrobe Valley Yacht Club runs Sauna Sail on the cooling pond for the Hazelwood Power Station, just near Morwell in the Latrobe Valley, which is about two hours from Melbourne.
So whilst thermals may well be mandatory for the girls out in the Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta, "...many sailors and their families camp on the shores of the lake, with all sorts of ingenious ways of keeping warm at night", said Chris Furey, who's going again this year. "Cold weather and warm water makes for a lot of winter fun with the mixed fleet of monohulls, multis, skiffs - basically anything with a sail number is welcome to come and sail around the lake. Often this is in mist or thick fog! You also get to witness something fairly rare - kids swimming at a Victorian regatta in mid June!"
George Rice, Cathryn Furey's Grandfather, was the second ever Commodore of LVYC and was one of those who started the Sauna Sail Regatta back in the mid sixties. "George would have been thrilled to know that his great-grandchildren have sailed in the regatta. The friendly folk at LVYC will accept last minute entries, so go HERE to get your self into hot water", Chris added.

Even Taipans get involved - what a mix!
Optis are everywhere and yes, they are kids IN the water!
Sounds like a very good idea to me - reckon the camping may be VERY crispified, however...
