The Sovereign Series is the culmination of the Christmas race programme for the Melbourne to Hobart boats.
Three races make up the series, the Cock of the Bay race sponsored by Entire Fire Protection Systems, the Heemskirk Consolidated Ltd Melbourne to Hobart and the Wrest Point King of the Derwent races.
The series winner must compete in all 3 races. Trophies are awarded for the first place in each of IRC (Premier division), AMS and Performance Handicap divisions.
