You know, you may want to play golf when you get there, but then it may interfere with the diving and fishing, to say nothing of the partying, however.
At any rate, our fourth EOI for the third installment of the run to Vanuatu is David Keyes-Tilley's Skye 51, Oasis, of Sandringham. Well done.

It really is great to have something to say about this event. Especially when it seems it so far away, when we know it will be upon us in no time, whatsoever.

Race Week.
There are many of these the world over. We have just had the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate, so as we go into Melbourne Cup Week and our very own, ORCV 2010 M2S, here's a few snaps from the 2010 M2V and their particular take on Race Week.

The winner, Angus Fletcher of TevakeII and it is Tracy Kamens with him. Tracy works for Bayer who donated $500 towards the Vanuatu project. Thank you, thank you and thank you...
I also received a little bit of added info and apparently, "Tracy's looking good, even in her 'Mother Hubbard' dress bought especially for the occasion of the Vanuatu Cup. Tracy sailed with the boys on Tevake II and rumour has it, that she's the first girl allowed onboard one of Mr Fletcher's boats!!! However, post-race he was singing her praises in Port Vila, publicly announcing that '... she steered better than all of them." A big thank you to 'Source', for the intel...
Now before we go, and given that there is a strong female bias to this piece, it is important to note that the third EOI for the 2014 M2V is none other than our very own Tanya Stanford, pictured below and she drives Nouannie.
I know she'll approve of this one much more - her crew from her boat Nouannie - and yes they did do well at the 2010 AWKR at RMYS - not just for the yachting equivalent - Fashions on the Water! Well done girls.

ORCV Melbourne to Vanuatu (M2V on 06/07/14)
Australia's longest Category One race is on.
The 2014 M2V has been announced, which will be the third incarnation of this classic Pacific jaunt.
So you've had a read of the articles about the 2010 M2V. Perhaps you've heard the stories from those who went in 2006? Been at the recent Long Distance Seminars even? Well. All we can say, is start preparing! He of the Countdown Timer tells me it is just 1366 days (as of the day of posting - 09/10/10) and we all know how quickly they slide by!
One boat keen to get to Vanuatu is Gusto, who were the first to put their name down in the EOI - on the very same day it went online!!! They ran out of time to get ready for the 2010 M2V, so certainly have unfinished business with the race, especially when they saw Scarlet Runner enjoying those SE Trades for a day and half. They were also completely devastated for the Runner when she had to withdraw with her electrical issues. Brian and Rob were part of the contingent that flew to Vanuatu, to show support for our fleet and the destination country, despite their yachts not making it.

ORCV Melbourne to Vanuatu (M2V on 06/07/14)
Vladimir's Escapdes.
Right OH. We have heard a little about Robert 'Vladimir' Bradley and his Escapde in recent times and some of the crew have got up to more than their own escapdes, as well.
This is not about going back and dredging through all that, but suffice to say we now can not only explain how 'Vladimir' came into being, but also, show you.
"Since Vladmir seems to be achieving a certain degree of fame/notoriety/infamy, I thought you might like the story of his (albeit short) life. During the 2010 M2V race I was downstairs aboard Slinky Malinky, cooking in Bass Strait, around July 7th'ish and despite the outside temperature being <10oC, it was so hot downstairs, that I was topless in my overalls, preparing the main meal. It reminded Rowan 'Pole Axed' Pollard of pictures of Vladimir Putin doing a BBQ, topless in Siberia. Mind you, I was pumping for Shamiana (Ed. You can Google that yourself, if you dare, then again, he was on a boat with slinky in its name...), but 'Pole Axed' was adamant. You have mentioned previously that Señor Pole Axed had a swim in Vanuatu after rolling off the boat and thankfully being rescued by more aware members of the gang in the cockpit (Ed. I think it was Chrissy Freeman), but you may have missed the stories from Vanuatu of those sleeping on park benches and needing to be pulled from the sea by their hair after falling into the tide." Ed. Not any more......
Good thing the wet weather does it's job in the elements.
Will the real Putin, please stand up.
Now there have been two Melbourne to Vanuatu races already and the third is set for July six, 2014 and Escapade is our second EOI for that race.
What we really wanted to get to is that on Saturday, October 23, at 1930hrs, Hobbos are holding a celebration night with a band even (look out for Pole Axed would be my thoughts on the matter!!!!!!!!!!) about all the laughs, trials and frivolity that was the 2010 M2V, so if you wanted to ask someone about it, well David Judge and the gang from HBYC would be happy to see you there...

ORCV Melbourne to Vanuatu (M2V)
Santa's Sleigh - Pt III.
It was a long time ago or so it seems, when our anonymous Star Donator appeared with all the loot in Wish Upon a Star.
Now that The Secretary is in Aussie waters again (Bundaberg at last check), we are starting to see some more of the images from Santa's trip around the island nation. This one is one of the pumps that was so kindly generated.
This is ORCV Commodore, George Shaw, handing over the water pump, which will allow them to get water to a hospital on Lolawai.
Once again, many thanks to all who dug deep in sooooooooooooo many ways to make it all happen.
