The Ocean Racing Club of Victoria is offering the right candidate an exciting opportunity to help the ORCV deliver it’s racing program. At 24hrs per week, which equates to four 6hr days, the role offers flexibility as well as interesting and demanding work as well as possibilities of additional hours in busy times.
With an extensive racing season, the role primarily involves management of the race entries, particularly focused on ensuring all the entry requirements of the Notice of Race have been fulfilled. It is critical work, which establishes the basis for our safety oversight and incident management. Accurate race information literally saves lives.
The role also includes a component of financial data entry using the MYOB system. Applicants need not be experienced bookkeepers but any experience in that and/or MYOB would be considered favourably. With a busy office, shared with another part time staff member (who is focused on Training, Membership and Marketing support), the role includes management of the office including responding to phone calls and email.
The office is located on the Albert Park Lake, which is a pleasant and picturesque location, near public transport. We share the office with Australian Sailing so it is a busy, sometimes noisy environment. With extensive use of business information systems, the candidate must be very comfortable with technology.
The ORCV is a Not for Profit organisation, so the role liaises with a number of volunteers including the Sail Captain, the Treasurer (and paid Bookkeeper), the Commodore (who the role reports to), race participants, members and various committees. For that reason, strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholder expectations is important.
