Boxing Day Dash off to a quick start
Blue skies and spectacular sunshine have sent off the fleet for the 2012 Boxing Day Dash.
The fleet heads out into the Bay |
Goldfinger and Gusto lead out the field over the start line, followed closely by XLR8 who was doing a fine job of chasing the bigger boats. The lead group have sailed closer inland with Goldfinger already reaching the Brighton Mark. Stampede and Extasea have taken advantage of the milder conditions to keep up with the head of the pack.
Ninety-three boats are battling it out this year, winding down the east side of Port Phillip Bay, striving to reach the finish line within Gusto’s 2010 record time of just over four hours and 40 minutes.
