McConaghy Melbourne Offshore Championship
(COB as part of the MMOC)
Circle work.
With so many boats in such proximity and at best a flukey breeze to get everyone going, all I want to know is 1. Were there any infringements and 2. Did those responsible become Lords of the Rings???
Here are Divisions 2 and 3 from Saturday afternoon as they prepare for the ENTIRE Cock of the Bay on Boxing Day. Pics by Steb Fisher, whom you can reach on mobile 0438 160 753, email
So no, what follows is not a tribute to utes and moleskins - Think about it.
Alas, this lot was not even one of the tight roundings... Seriously.
Nor this one actually.
Or this one.
But maybe this one - Might IS Right - here's the full sequence below.
See what I mean now.
The 2008 M2L Winner 'Turbo' in the centre of frame, pretty much without the wick dialled up at all really (Petrol Head speak for the boost of the turbo into the induction manifold).
Now whilst talking of ORCV regulars, here's a few more too...
It was a good day indeed - 'Magic' actually. Cheeseball I know, but you would not believe just how temperamental the site has been today and I'm left a little less creative than before.
Happiest crew on the water prize. Great to hook up with you all in Stanley, team. Thank you for including me...
Another perennial - 'Mirrabooka'
'Godzilla' coming up - and then going down...
Our hero pic for this article is Jonathon's other cousin.
It was 'Alibi' in the earlier round with the Gold Star for safety (click HERE to re-visit) - this time it is 'Escapade'. Sports Boat and Sports Hats on the right.
At a time when the 'Big Prawn' has gone and the 'Big Pineapple' is under threat from lack of maintenance and the developers wrecking ball, we can always say "Aim for the Big Banana!!!"
Colour me pretty if the yellow kite isn't steering 180 while the purple steers 000... Wanna get the Hi-Res pic and just see if it so - If not - looks good!
I see two sails was optional on the day (those pesky white rag things, always in the way....) And on the right, this boat just did not seem as scary as the movie somehow...
It is great how there are girls in racing now - very different times when compared with the old - yeeeee ha!
Pretty much sums up the conditions for a lot of the afternoon. (Ed - Q.E.D).
This 'Apache' is a bit smaller than the other one, which was an old IOR 'Chutzpah' at one time. Probably got the same waterline length though...
Hmmmmm. Shirts off Saturday eh? These guys shouldn't have applied. Little bit freaky aboard the 'Freqie"
'Can Can' - more like, don't don't, I think - please!!!! Bow decal is the best looking by a few centuries.
Now this is pretty ugly and I think below is why it has all occurred - "Starboard?"
"Now mate, it is in here somewhere, I tell you." Kind of like the airline check-in really. "Did you pack your own bag, Sir?"
Please, please, please tell me this is not a gift left by a now relieved sailor! Please...
