Melbourne to Vanuatu International Ocean Yacht Race

Humanitarian Aid

The ORCV has forged a strong connection with our Pacific Neighbour since we conducted our first 1,885 nautical mile international ocean yacht race from Melbourne to Vanuatu in 2006.

During preparation for that first race it became clear that we could do something more than just bring our much needed tourist dollar to the people of Vanuatu.  Consequently for each of the Melbourne to Vanuatu races in 2006, 2010 and 2014, we have also filled and dispatched a shipping container with humanitarian aid, from generators, computers, clothing, sporting equipment, toys, reading books, pens/pencils, stationery, to school books.  Yachts distributed the aid to villages in Vanuatu during their cruising after the race and have made many friends and developed relationships with the local communities.
