A short coastal race starting off Queenscliff, going out of Port Phillip Heads before turning right to follow the coast to Apollo Bay.
As the concluding race on the summer racing calendar, the 52 mile dash to Apollo Bay often decides the Ocean Racing Championship.
It is also an ideal race for those new to ocean racing with its shorter length and proximity to the coast.
The race is often won or lost by navigators and tacticians in their decisions to sail a seaward course or hug the shoreline in search of better breeze.
Berthing is available in the Apollo Bay marina and there are excellent facilities in the town for meals and post race refreshment.
For information regarding berthing (there are limited positions available) please contact the Port of Apollo Bay on 03-5232 9475 during business hours.
The after-hours number (for berthing enquiries or information regarding navigation and the conditions at the harbour entrance) is 0418-320 441
This race is part of the Offshore Championship.
