Heemskirk Consolidated Melbourne to Hobart (M2HW)
You're never too old...
.. to learn something new and these pics are no exception. This is the WEST coast of Tassie during the 2009 M2HW. Sometimes you see Bass Strait all nice and oily like this, but this is the first time we have pics of this happening further South. Out with the old rule book and in with the new eh?
Many thanks to John Owens from 'Slinky Malinky' out of HBYC for these images and the kind words below - all the ORCV team appreciate you making the effort. Excellent SPF50 happening there too!
Good morning ORCV,
Many thanks for the organising that went behind M2HW – well done and much appreciated.
Attached a couple of photos that do show the West Coast at its calmest !!!! and us, “Slinky Malinky”, in the becalmed state – just to prove that we were actually becalmed and not “fixing” the race to time our arrival for the fireworks on the Derwent at midnight!!.
Cheers and many thanks
John Owens
If you look closely you can almost see the slightest of breath of wind on the water's surface - but then again that is probably just a reverberation ripple coming back of the hull from the last slap from one of those small swells you can make out...
