Club Marine Series, Day Four - Right there
in the thick of it.
Some sensational boat placement, had us right in the thick of it for the both the rounding mark and finish line, of the Division Two and Three course. The result is some really good face and action shots, with the now well-into-the-mid30s breeze that had kicked in. There had to be some reward for our efforts to get back over to the inner course - now didn't there...
Also, one of the benefits of being right there in the thick of it was being on station for Peter Smith off 'Wavelength', which you can read about HERE.
So talking about being in the thick of it, all right. There are soooooo many images here, that it seemed like I was never going to finish, which is why it took a day longer. Kick back, get the wine and away we go!
These are Steb Fisher's pics from the Division Two and Three race in the afternoon of Saturday, February 6 of the Club Marine Series. You can contact Steb via
We love all animals. Dogs have a special place though, so here's the hero pic. This is the dog beach at Brighton. The sand juts out, almost to the channel of RBYC.
In the consideration set were the swimmers who braved the channel, at the same time as all the returning vessels.
'Footloose' launching was certainly in the equation.
This tremendous shot of 'The Bookmaker' and the CBD got a look in too...
As did this poor lonely soul on the rail of 'Gravitas'. I mean cold and wet on the rail is one thing, but on your own!!! Wow. Soul destroying.
Moving on from the whole hero pic thing, but still looking a bit Scott Neville too, was our friend aboard Sm72 - just don't know who you are...
Does not seem to be too bad for this person however, or maybe the camera brought the smile out.
Rob Feigan and the crew of 'Jack Tar' have been hero pic before. You can see them HERE. Thank you to the team on 'Endeavour III' who ran this course, as part of the whole volunteer gang.
'Rhiannon' had a good day and continue to do well for the whole of the Club Marine Series.
In the centre of these three is Peter Smith, before he stepped off!
This set of 'Intrusion' really exemplifies what I mean about being right there.
Great stuff. Rail's in the drink with one of the many squirts around. They've just crossed the line here...
Gold stars for the PFDs and I bet that sail down below is going to be really wet and just joyous to pack.
'Carbine' set to go around for the last time.
'Forzado' powering along.
'Young Lion' also clipping along nicely.
'Bali Dancer'
ORCV regulars, 'Hush'. The also get a lot of glasses (trophies) in the bar at SYC, when the Club Captain rings the bell!
'Ingara' found tacking in the waves and breeze a bit difficult - they weren't the only ones.
Philip Spry-Bailey and 'Magic' stick their noses out in it for the ORCV races, as well. Thank you.
'Fun and Games' and it certainly was...
Go the foredeckie!
'Firefox' BTW
'Vantage' showed up for M2G and are in the pages ever since - good one team.
Wind swept like an Aston...
Stop lounging about mate - we're racing here!
Take a dose of that for your troubles!
Still kicking back...
'Decisive' - love a name that is an answer to rhetorical question!
Some of the team off 'Frequent Flyer'.
'Upbeat' doing a good job of staying positive out there it would seem...
'Seaya' - OK!
'Hi Again' - with ORCV Regulars, Phil Bedlington and 'The Cappers', in the background
'Bye now'. You have to go and do another lap.
'Spellbound' look to not have a soul around it would seem...
...then crossing the line
'Chardonnay' and yes, I could do with one right now.
Adams 10 with a cabin - 'Red Dog'.
At 30 feet, 'Avanale' was our smallest boat (by one foot) out at Xmas time, last year. They completed the oldest ocean race in the land - the M2L.
Now on the other board - knee pads a good feature. I used to use wetsuit protectors, because the neoprene was so flexible and water was irrelevant to them...
This is a great head-on shot.
This is good too.
But this is a classic!
Howdy!
And Hi.
'Avanale' with a sponsor-will-love-us shot = 250 bonus points!!!
Some wet souls on 'Mrs Overnewton'.
Just a great sequence of 'Portofino' here. 'Stampede' heading back in from the Div1 course over in the left of image.
It certainly is a marvellous spot and I bet there were a few onboard who wish they were there having lunch by the quay or out at the old castle, rather than slogging it on Port Phillip...
Even tough we saw this image of 'Footloose' earlier on, we just had to have them together. What goes up...
They are images 992 and 993, so nothing's staged.
Rates well and sailed pretty well = on the board most of the time.
Kenny Loggins (Go deep! - or email if you need a clue.)
Best of the three -
- but then this is pretty cool too.
Just a great image! It is 'Duckmobile' BTW.
Heading home with 'Duckmobile'.
This is R141, 'Nouannie' from RYCV, hard at work on the trimming.
'Godzilla' are only 31 feet and did M2HE at Xmas. Always on the board, especially AMS. They were also the very first ever, Happiest Crew on the Water trophy holders.
R62 down. Now I reckon this is 'Remedy' who have been featured here previously. Any help out there?
Up.
Down.
And up. Almost like a metronome really...
We've had a lot of Indian talk of late - here's an 'Apache'.
'Surprise' are on these pages a lot - do well too. AVW, CMS etc.
B632. Sorry I do not know you, but you are featured. So that's something!
'Magazan 53'
This is a great little set of 'Magazan 53' that is coming up.
Having complete the last Melbourne Latitude Series, Kathryn and her 'Allegresse' will be out soon for regular blue water ORCV events.
Awesome bow shots.
Clipping along nicely.
'Double Malt' had a good day and got some prizes.
Captain Capper, Phil Bedlington and the rest of the Cappers on 'Under Capricorn. Do you think that will work Caro?
The Flying 25
They would have done some work in the day.
Lucy...
Old VB slogan... (the one with the late John Mellion voice-over)
As a matter of fact, when they headed back home, they told us how much hard work they'd done for the day, which left us in no Mystery as to what had transpired (had to finish on a Basil Brush!)
See you for the next day of the Club Marine Series - Feb 20 - and never fear, there'll be enough on these pages to keep you going until then...
