Let's have a Party!
All rightey then. In Special, we looked at the day the J24s and S38s were out for their State Titles and more particularly, our Collective Nouns thread. You may remember that of all the ones available for avian Jays, we chose party, so then, let's go and see how much fun the J24s had that day. All pics © Steb Fisher.
The boat's name and the Bowman. Say no more...
I suppose in all fairness, there isn't a lot of room to get around on a J24. Go the Volleys!
Well they're in front of a few anyway...
Go on. Give it some Larry! I mean, really lay in to it pal. Let us see your intent.
Oh. You did.
Interesting luff tension.
Certainly was close quarters.
I've decided these J24s are hell on knees.
What a great 'Steb' - and on a flat day to boot.
Seting up.
When you're ready.
Doing Mast and Bow - busy times.
Out the companionway.
Heady down, but Houston, we have...
Laying into that tape!
Now we're good.
Sponsor, sponsor, sponsor.
Was definitely in contention for hero pic.
Just fantastic to see so many women in sailing in this class.
Also got a look in for hero pic status.
The sponsorship's safe for another year Michael.
... and it all happens again.
Creative use of sail numbers - that'll get 'em.
They did pretty well in the standings though.
Like I said. One design certainly is close.
Yet another 'Steb'.
And again. Good work lad.
Watch the stall! Your mates below have obliged us, however.
Not a lot of forward action going on here. Once heeled over too far, the little keel slips PDQ... Look out to leeward!
"Now I got hurt in that last effort. Don't do it again!"
Terrific stuff.
All smiles in the pen.
Still a few smiles out on the water. Why wouldn't you? What a day!
Sort it out. We're near the pin.
Had it not been for the image of the stall (earlier), this would have got hero pic status. Just marvellous. Gotta try me this sport soon...
OK. Off we go then.
Well that was speedy Two Dogs!
Yep. It's there. Stanchion will offer a bit of grief, but it is there!
Marvellous stuff and so well caught, Steb.
Don't let all that get tangled in the beak!
The Mastman has got the MOST priceless expression captured in a long time! Have to invent a new category and prize.
Who's tailing???
There it is. We're going in!
Usually they fill and look pretty, team.
So? What have we got?
Shirts-Off-Sunday, apparently.
The pre-load is underway...
That all seemed to work.
Go the human preventer.
Racing pack of the heady, huh.
Still at it... Bit of weight up forward there.
Did somebody fill the bathtub with water?
Clearly it was actually only shirts-off-first-leg-of-the-race, day...
Action stations.
The housework is never done.
AC/DC
It's a long way to the top! (All right. So on a J24, it actually isn't, but it makes for an interesting thread in the story. See below.)
(If you wanna rock'n'roll). Now those boys sure knew how to party. Go HERE if you need a fix, want to see Swanston Street when it was used for it's intended purpose in this life or to catch the only other time, apart from ANZAC Day, when bagpipes get a guernsey to go down this "street".
There is a part two to this, so 'Party on, Wayne'.
