ORCV Latest News
More Delights.
The ORCV's 2010 AGM was held on Thursday 23rd September at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron. Yes. It's been a awhile, but getting the snaps, sorting out who's who.... You know. And yes, if there is a name change or addition, put it in the email please.
Now, as a result of all that, there are more delights to review.
Ray Shaw getting down to the serious business of telling Don Fraser to lose the idiot website guy....
Team BO's Tony Warren and his partner, Shelley. On the right is Brian Burggraaf who sails with Russell Hibbert on Remedy. Thanks, Ian...
The Handicapper - Peter Chalkley talks to she of the nickname that cannot be used, so I wont. She really will kill me, even though she's away in FNQ. She is not the Cat's Mother, but our Sally Williams.
Outgoing Commodore - hey that's true in every sense of the term - the delightful George Shaw. It has been a pleasure Geo and thanks...
My real Boss and our Treasurer, the great Neil Butler. He'd have to be great, because he's married to the second most gorgeous girl on the planet. De.
Incoming Commodore, Don Fraser. New will be a theme for his tenure...
And I thought there was only ever three - go deep. 'New' faces on the left are Neville 'Nifty' Rose and new Vice Commodore, Simon Dryden.
Now Team Ecky tell me this is John Dearnley, who is Paul's (Bucky, as in Paul Buchholz) best mate and one of the crew and to keep telling him that he resembles a “Lebanese Kebab Shop owner”. They also say he is, "...the only man who can do an ocean race on a diet of solely 2 minute Noodles." Nice effort lad. All those numbers running around in your guts... How do you do it?
John is seen here collecting the Gill jacket prize on the night (thank you Paul).
Geo with Bob Tanner, who was the Race Director for the M2V. He's done an awesome amount for the ORCV over the years. The award here is for Alegria II's 3rd place in the Two-Handed Division of the 2009 COB.
Excellent. We now know that this is David Richardson accepting Alibi's prize for a whole raft of achievements during the MWS, on behalf of her owner, Dennis Hambleton.
Tony Warren from team Beyond Outrageous for their efforts in M2KI and thew MWS. Plus, they have spinnakers onboard and they are not afraid to use them.
This one has been a bit of a challenge - is it Hugh Halliburton? Help....
The Chikara Outlaw Gang - Bill, Jo and kids.
Vladimir strikes again!!! Robert Bradley of Escapade for the MLS and M2G.
Our very good friend, Teri Dodds, who supplies us with images for the site and posters, etc, solved this one for us. "Pic is of my brother, Brenton Carnell, who is Bucky's tactician and probably the longest serving crew member on the boat", being Team eXtasea.
And again. Need a touch of help with this one - Sorry.
Peter Chalkley, Geo and ORCV Committee Member, Marissa McManus. COB and MWS Div2 achievements.
New RBYC Club Captain, Rosie Colahan adding a dash of splendour as always, as she collects COB Two-Handed award. David was still bringing the boat back and stuck in Refuge, I gather.
Rob Sill for INSX's myriad of MWS achievements.
Nick McGuigan for Magazan 53's Third in M2S.
Philip Spry-Bailey takes Magic everywhere. He was sooooooo chuffed at getting ahead of the racing boats for M2G, as they wallowed around out on their longer course.
Former ORCV Flag Officer and now Sailing Master aboard Ninety Seven, Noel May, collecting the prize for their M2KI and MWS efforts.
Roger Wale from Pretty Woman. They are another crew who did things like MLS and then M2HE, etc, as a result.
This is for their efforts in M2S and M2G.
Brian Burggraaf pictured here with Geo won the PHS as Two-Handed with Russell Hibbert in the loooooooooooooooooooooooong 2010 M2AB.
New ORCV Committee Member, He of the Countdown Timer (Jeremy Walton), tells me this is Murray Erwin from the Rogue Trader team.
Eric Marsh owns Slinky Malinky and they are our current Seamanship Poster Crew. We love them. This particular item is for the M2PF.
Joanne Harpur bought a boat, did the MLS and had a wow of a time in the MWS, as well. Champion.
More Caped Crusaders - This time Two-Handed legends George Shaw and Robyn Brooke. This is for their efforts in M2PF and M2AB.
Peter Dunne from Upbeat with a list of Division Two wins in COB and M2G.
Mark Welsh from Wicked and there is a string of results in MWS, MTH (Two-Handed) and M2S. He's also SYC's Sail Captain and a good person to chat with.
Geo always says 'my Brother', so I will too. XLR8 had a good MWS in PHS.
Robin Hewitt - he should get an award for just being Robin. Wow. Has helped out a lot of people...
OH LORD! Rob Sill takes the Lord Warden Trophy for the second year running. Cool. Overall MWS Winner is a great achievement and shows of a crew's ability to do the soldier's course, old Olympic (go the wing mark!!!!) and passage racing.
First in PHS for the whole season - Chakara Outlaw's Jo Norbury and ORCV Committee Member, Bill Trueman.
That'll be that fast food outlet owner again. Team Ecky had yet another great year - well done. First in IRC and AMS for the whole season.
Ocean Racer of the Year - Nick McGuigan.
Weather eye now...
