ORCV Melbourne Winter Series (MWS)

Even more pics.

Rising Star, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., has provided us with even more images to review from Sunday's delightfully sunny Race Six of the 2011 Winter Series. Let's hope there is both breeze and sun for the run to Geelong on September 10. If you've been racing so far and need to go and complete your entry or perhaps enter for the first time this Winter in one of the three categories - Racing, Cruising with Spinnakers or Cruising without Spinnakers - you can also see the NoR, get the new V1.2 SIs and of course enter the Melbourne to Geelong event, then simply go HERE. Basically, marina control at RGYC will be on VHF Ch73.

Speaking of Geelong, as of Tuesday, August 30, there are 30 in Racing, 12 in Cruising with Kites and still only Tresor in Cruising without a Bag.

Hero pic or what!!! Think you'll have to be the new Women In Sailing Poster Shot, as well!!!
Don't know who you are, but we do know you sail aboard Chris Tucker's Halcyon.

R6_HalcyonCrew2_AM

It's all right, buddy - the sun's out!

R6_HalcyonCrew_AM

Chris' boat arrived a bit over a year ago and we've been delighted to see them out on just about every opportunity - cheers team.

R6_DryWhiteBrass_AM

The other B40 that was out there was Dry White. Two of the top three Brass were onboard, the other had a note from Eppstein's Mum. Vice Commodore Simon Dryden on the primary and Rear Commodore Neville 'Nift' Rose trying to use the wheel as a disguise... Wondering if that is Niesje Hees in the sun in the hat.... Pretty sure? More of The Etchells Gang right there - she's the Secretary of the Melbourne Fleet.

Buried under that cloud of yellow is Miss Jane. Hello Jane Dennehy...

R6AudaciousChallengeXLR8_AM

Audacious had a great day out there. Here they are ahead of Challenge and XLR8. Pic courtesy of and © to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

It's Bombora filling the Bag, think it's Schüss, the Cinquante, Audacious and Chutzpah. Pic courtesy of and © to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Three Colts.

R6_AudaciousCrew_AM

Audacious had a great time in the sun - good to see the Love Boat circulating once more...

Addiction crosses the line.

R6ArchRivalJazzyDryWhiteToecutter_AM

Must admit, originally I thought it was Toecutter heading uphill through Arch Rival, Jazzy and Dry White. It is actually Godzilla, black sail numbers and speed stripes relative to batten pockets...

R6GodzillaToecutter_AM

Here are the Hicks! Godzilla in front of Toecutter.

R6TheSecretaryToecutter_AM

The Secretary looks like they are coming to swamp the aforementioend Toecutter.

R6_Geo_AM

Speaking of The Secretary, here is Immediate Past Commodore, George Shaw, driving his vessel.

Remember, no officials - no racing. Thank you to all of them. In blue is ORCV Legend, Robin Hewitt.

Celebrating its 41st consecutive running -
the Winter Series was first run in 1972
and is still the same format today!

Be a part of the Bay's hottest racing at the coldest
time of year or just pop out at the end, for
the Bay's favourite bash - the event officially known
just as
Melbourne to Geelong,
but you may have other names for it...

Geelong

In September, the Melbourne to Geelong event
finishes the Winter Series off and there will be
presentations at RGYC for it.

Of course, by the time Stanley comes around,
you just know Silly Season proper is upon you...

Many thanks to Hobbos and particularly
Tony Dawson for getting our favourite shooters -
Teri and Alex - out on the water aboard Privateer.

Many thanks also to Jon Bilger and his PredictWind
team who provide us with great information for both
Race Management and Marketing Communications, alike.
