Club Marine Series, Day Six -  A little bit different.

it was fantastic to see people having fun with their sailing last Saturday, after being on their ear for the last couple of Club Marine Series Heats.

That fun certainly started with Cougar II's mascot, Colosimo, becoming Captain Araldite whilst waiting for a solid breeze to fill in. It deseved another outing, if for the marvellous frangipani lei only!!!

Another person keen to make the most of the day was regular Love Boater (Click HERE for where it all began) and keen contributor to these pages, Chris Furey. This is what he saw and it certainly offers a lot of people, especially land based, a different take on what sailors do with all that time they spend away... Thank you.

CMS6_CF_DeliverySkipper

"What a cracker of a day for Race 6 on Saturday. We finally got the conditions that suit the little X35-OD (Nutcracker) and put in a good one!" Looks to me like the delivery skipper (back from over West of the channel) got the best of the best. His name is David Sasson.

CMS6_CF_BowmanHikes

"Looking around the boats on the day the common theme was smiles - everyone was smiling which, as you know, is all too rare in yacht racing. After the last couple of beltings in fresh stuff it was a welcome change to break out the #1s instead of the #3s and #4s." This is the bowman's view and I like it because it shows he was hiking.

CMS6_CF_LeewardRail

"If you only got one day of sailing like that in your life you could consider yourself blessed and everyone seemed to be making the most of Port Phillip at its finest", Chris says. Here he's on the leeward rail, making a nice contribution to the artsy fartsy department of the day...

CMS6_CF_Tactician

Like a water diviner, the tactician explains his theory... Are you a believer?!

CMS6_CF_Steb

"FYI, the camera I use is a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ11 with 10x optical zoom – nothing special, but compact enough to keep in my pocket. Steb probably spent more on the strap that he hangs around his neck, than my entire camera is worth!" You're probably right Chris. And here is Chris' pic of the man known as Steb Fisher. He makes the trip from Warragul each time and doesn't get a cent, so if you're feeling guilty, like me, then buy a shot from him. They're not expensive. It is Alan in the background, coming out of the pilothouse.

CMS6_CF_RaceManagement

So many volunteers, so many hours put in, one simple thanks.

CMS6_CF_BigSmall

L to R it is Dream Silk, Cougar and Windspeed. Given the size of the track it is always funny how the magnet works. Must fit a Shooroo to the bow on of these days...

CMS6_CF_AheadSchuss

Nutcracker is ahead of Schuss here.

CMS6_CF_SchussAhead

Closer to the top, Schuss have finally got the extra ten feet in gear and are in front.

CMS6_CF_DreamPole

A boat called Dream and two guys handling a big pole. The line, the lines.....

CMS6_CF_Div1Winners

De Schwarz goes over the line a little ahead of the owner of the entire Div1 board, Executive Decision. Joe Adams would be happy.

CMS6_CF_Band

There was off water fun too, as the band got going at SYC...

Divisions Two and Three are coming next. Tell your crew mates to look out.
