This hugely popular race on Port Phillip Bay is held each year on Boxing Day (26th December).
The 34nm course starts near Station Pier in Port Melbourne and is designed to sail past major bayside locations for sailors and spectators alike to view. Some say there is no better way to work off the excesses of Christmas the day before.
Besides being a great classic race in its own right, the event serves as a feeder for the blue water classic Melbourne to Devonport and Melbourne to Hobart "Westcoaster" ocean yacht races. It also is the first race in the Bass Strait Series and the Sovereign Series.
Berthing is provided at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron (BYS) at the conclusion of the race. Traditional hospitality at BYS will be different as the BYS clubhouse is not available to non members. We will update you as we get closer to what is possible.
The record fleet size is over 100 yachts. There are great vantage points for spectators at Port Melbourne, St Kilda pier, Brighton Pier, Sandringham and Hampton foreshore.
