At 1709 hours on Saturday afternoon, May 19, Magazan 53 noticed another competitor had dropped both their headsail and mainsail.  At the time Magazan 53 was within sight of Streetcar and could see that  she was not moving.  Nick McGuigan, tried to contact the boat by radio and then decided to bare away to see if Streetcar required assistance.   As Magazan 53 got close to Streetcar they could see the boat was stationary with no sails up and no motor going.  As they drew along-side one of the crew members onboard Streetcar hailed to Magazan 53 and advised them that they had now fixed their problem and no longer required assistance.   Both boats then resumed racing to Apollo Bay.

Magazan 53 diligently logged the time they ceased racing (17:09) to render assistance and again when they re-commenced racing (17:13).  In situations like this, where  a yacht ceases racing to render assistance to another yacht, they may be entitled to Request Redress and have their elapsed time adjusted accordingly.
