ORCV Melbourne to King Island
Cheers on that.
Kathleen Hunter from the King Island Courier was very keen to see the boats from our race to KI, as our event has twice the the number of competitors and been running nearly twice as long as the other race that is on over the long weekend - The KI Imperial 20, which is a running race of 20miles, held on the Sunday.
Kathellne also arranged for a marvellous spread, in colour no less, to adorn their weekly paper before we got there and is running yet more this week, now that we have left. They cannot wait to have us back again, although KIBC Commodore, John Hiscock, is not sure he needs the personal publicity a large shot of him on the back page of the paper generated during our visit. Sorry, John. (Well not really tooooooo sorry - all the KIBC Volunteers deserve a large amount of thanks from John Brewster to Michael, Helen, Carol, Ian, Craig and the list really does go on, including new local Copper, Paul.
So thanks Kathleen for the images seen here that she shot from the Police Cat, just before darkness descended upon us.
Despite getting the Silver Medal, Gusto showed up in a blaze of gold. We wish more had arrived in the light, as the shooting really was sensational, with great light and only a small swell running....
Big main to flake...
Yep. Really big main...
Our man of million parties - Brian Pattinson - gives us a wave as they prepare to enter harbour.
That seriously happy crew from Rob Date's, Reichel-Pugh penned, Scarlet Runner. (Yes. Rack up yet another plug for me with Jim Pugh!!!!)
There will be more.
