Melbourne Latitude Series (MLS)

Back in Black.

No - it is not Aka Daka (that's AC/DC btw), but serial ORCV racer, Spirit of Dowunder, that's back - and how. A new, 200kg lighter, carbon stick is the main feature with PBO standing rigging another element of the sexed up, new NZ Rigging package installed by Bart, who also plays aboard Living Doll. Xmas plans for SoD would seem to include the Heemskirk Consolidated M2HW. Before that, Laurie 'Lozza' Ford and the gang are looking closely at the MLS, as a way to pick up a bit of ocean work before the big stuff at Xmas. Let's see what transpires.

Happy faces - no doubt glad to be back out on the water... ORCV Honorary Treasurer, Neil Butler, is near the vang.

No doubt it'll add to the performance.

Now there's another boat definitely using the MLS as a chance to go and stick their nose out in it, even though they don't really need the sea miles, but think it valuable to learn more about themselves and the boat.

He of the countdown timer, new ORCV Committee Member, Jeremy Walton says, "Just thought I would let you know that Gusto will be doing the upcoming Latitude races as part of our preperation for the M2HW race at Christmas. We are keen to keep on developing our knowledge of BBB and just what she is capable of and see the MLS as a valuable way to continue our training for Ocean Racing and Sailing."

"We will doing the stern chaser back, as well and cannot wait to see what start time the Race Director gives us........ To complete the three race series we will be doing the RBYC Lady Nelson/FD Linacre overnight race on 11th Feb next year." Ed. Yes. That will be interesting - may the Southerly have kicked in by then. I'm sure Brian will want to take it out and I think you can be assured of a sleep in, which is a good thing for the boss...

Here's BBB during her first foray - the 2010 M2G.

Please also remember there is the Latitude Seminar on Thursday 11/11/10. Good info on sailing, crew management, rations etc - see HERE for that one...

Never Fear, there will be.
