TryBooking.com's Dolphin torch

On Easter Saturday, David Mitchell was walking along Station Beach close to Johanna on the Shipwreck Coast, with two friends Megan and Karen, when they found a touch.

The yellow Dolphin torch was washed up at the high watermark about 300 meters west of the rocky spit that divides the beach. The torch was labeled with the sail number B434 which he knew to be the sail number of TryBooking.com.

The sail number B434 on the underside of the torch identified it as belonging to TryBooking.com

This story also has a happy ending as the torch is still working after its adventures at sea that night, and is being returned to TryBooking.com, via David Mitchell’s friend Rik Head.

Rik Head is well known to ORCV members as the person who is responsible for writing the ORCV incidence response manual and training the ORCV Incidence Response Team.  The training based on the manual was invaluable for the Incidence Response Team  on the night of the rescue in the Melbourne to Port Fairy race. David, along with his friend Rik, has also volunteered his time to assist in the ORCV Latitude series.
