Melbourne to Port Fairy (M2PF)
It's not all hard yards and beer at the end.
The Good Friday Appeal for Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital has been a tradition in the annual M2PF race - much like the Boxing Day Test scores that get broadcast after the radio skeds during the races heading South in Summer.
The Good Friday Appeal has now become so widely accepted that the Telethon is broadcast into other States and the funds raised do ensure the staff can continue to provide the level of care needed to very sick children and offer support to their families at this very sad time. Competitors in the 2009 M2PF race, together with one other cruising member that responded to the 1800 sked have pledged donations totalling $1557. Thank you to all those who dug deep in spite of the GFC. |
