Over this short distance competitors need to position themselves to take advantage of the current but watch-out for the effects of the winds funneling down the hills and valleys along the coast.  Navigators must also be aware of the influence of Cape Otway as they approach the finish line.

The record for this race is held by Peter Blake on Kaos in 1999 with a time of  05:24:04hrs. Is 2012 time for a new record?  Only time will tell!
