ORCV Melbourne to Apollo Bay (M2AB)

In Godbert we trust.

You'll know not that much of him, actually. Also, he's pretty good at keeping it that way, too. "He" is Tim Godbert and without him, well, we just would not look anywhere near as good as we do.

TimGodbert

You see, Tim does all the ORCV's graphic design; from race icons, to posters, email signatures to web facias and skins - it's all him! So his signature is well and truly over everything. "The most amazing new logo suite has been created, which has moved the ORCV past the noughties and directly into the teens. It is great finding a volunteer who produces all that we need from a graphics point of view, with a moments notice. So, from your race shirts, to the look of everything we have, Tim has produced a consistant image, which has greatly contributed to the high profile that the ORCV has achieved in the last few years. Thanks Tim, don't go away!!!!!", said Vice Commodore, Simon Dryden.

Tim is an absolute pleasure to work with, understands and indeed loves the creative process and makes me smile when things go awry every now and then. All this and yet I have only physically met him just the once! He's another of the never really seen, but-oh-so-crucial members of the greater ORCV clan.

Tim is going to Apollo Bay aboard Dry White, so you may get a glimpse of him then. He also sails a bit on Swordfish Trombone out of Royals, so if you're there, you can ask what he can do for your business or if not, simply call him on 0414 801 123.

TimGodbert2

So yes. In Godbert we do trust and when the fool copywriter asks for a change, he just does it, sends him a new version and witty quip to go with it. Cheers pal. And thank you!

More from ORCV land - very soon.

Not a place to go into
in an Easterly or if you
draw too much.
Plenty of souls around to ask
about that and there's also
the bombora out the front.

Supertramp above looks bad,
but had storm boards in etc.
Port was closed thereafter,
though...

Don't even attempt to go in
with an Easterly blowing,
however...

Melbourne to Apollo Bay (M2AB)

Season's end, but not over.

Perhaps there's a reason why 20 vessels are already in for the offshore season finale - the race to Apollo Bay. yes it's shoprt at just 54nm, but it is always a tricky sucker. Do I go in or do I stay out? Will the breeze fill in more towards the middle of Bass Strait or am I playing some coastal puffs? Hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm.

One thing is for sure and The Brass are on to it. It may be the end, but until it's all over, it's just the beginning. "When the extra drop comes into play the offshore championship is wide open and will come down to the performance in the Apollo Bay race."

2010and11MOC

You don't need me to tell you there's just one or two points in it and that's before Huey plays his hand!!! Study the yearbook, I say...

Want to check out The Brass' maths? Go HERE.

So you want to be in this, then? Go HERE for the all the info. It's all on from Drapers Reef at 0300hrs, 14/5/11.

Tails.

So if my pics are Heads, then the stuff from onboard has to be Tails - right?

2010_M2AB_TonyBullExtaseaBassStrait

Thanks to Tony Bull out of Ullman Sails Geelong for this pic from onboard reigning MMOC Champions, Extasea. Having just done the other side with the 2009 M2H start, I thought it would be good to have an onboard shot taken at the same time as mine, but from the completely opposing perspective.

Here are the other tails in the area!

2010M2ABEckieFinish1

This four part series is how Extasea finished ahead of Chikara Outlaw. So I guess, that makes it Heads. You win, because you get to have people send in all this great imagery.

Dr. Suess.

Green eggs and ham - I so wanted to use that line... All right, so it's just eggs and bacon, but it is good to see that our Commodore, George Shaw is being looked after with this breakfast, served just after they entered the Heads on Sunday Morning.

Bon Apetit - again.

2010M2ABAddictionGoesHome

Also making her way home on Sunday, well at any rate to Steve Cambell's Composites Constructions facility in Braeside, is one venerable Inglis with a just little keelbox damage... She had four escort vehicles to get her up and over the top road at Skenes Creek and then only the one for the rest of the journey to Melbourne.

Dinner Time.

It may be out of focus, but a boat is always moving around, even in benign conditions. Despite the fuzzy edges, you cannot mistake the bones sticking out of the top of the rack of lamb or the nice half bottle to go with it, so as you sit down to your dinner tonight, there are lot of cold and frustrated sailors out in Bass Strait tonight, but at least George and Robyn onboard The Secretary cannot add hungry to that list. Thank you to the Commodore for the image.
