ORCV Hutchwilco Melbourne to Stanley (M2S).
Surrounding Images.
The breeze has kicked in as indicated for the boats and Calm is near the front doing around 13 knots as she gets into the Sou'westerlies and opens the sheets to steam on ahead.
From on board Dry White, Rear Commodore, Nevile Rose, tells us "We had Dolphins playing in bow wave earlier with Asymmetric Spinnaker up, but we're back to a Medium Headsail in 12-15 knots from SW."
In the meantime, here are some images of the surrounding areas and Stanley's ultra-famous Nut, which is what all the crews are aiming for.
On the road out of Burnie, heading Nor'west towards Stanley.
The earth is very deep and rich in colour - little wonder so much of the country's vegetables are grown here...
Fields of green and blue skies - yes please.
Basalt massif known as, The Nut.
It's not the only geological wonder in the area, however...
Clouds never too far away...
Like some giant croc skin that's been baked to rock hard...
Lots of rock pools around...
Just a faint wisp of cloud floats on by...
Flotsam jetsam (all natural, however), but man's presence not too far away...
The lapping of the gentle waves on the rocks and yet we're in Tassie... Not what I remember.
If you want to follow it all with the pretty graphics via the sat trackers from Yellowbrick - see HERE for Flash empowered devices and HERE for non-Flash. NB. As per the Information tab on the tracker site (bottom right), the Yellowbrick Trackers transmit every 30 minutes, the map will update whenever it receives new information. A big thank you to all the people commenting on the FB page about the trackers - great information. Cheers.
Right then, we had 37 vessels in the M2S, but Chikara Outlaw withdrew a few days ago, so it's 36 now - Addiction, Alibi, Alien, Arch Rival, Bandit, Biddy Hu II, Cadibarra 8, Calm, Cavarlo, Dekadence, Dark and Stormy, Dry White, eXtasea, FullyNPushing, Gusto, Halcyon, Independent Endeavour, Jazz Player, Kiss Goodbye to MS, Magazan 53, Magic, Matrix, Mille Sabords, Mirrabooka, Nutcracker, Pretty Woman, Scarlet Runner, Slinky Malinky, Spirit of Downunder, Tevake II, Trybooking.com, Under Capricorn, Weekend Option, White Noise, XLR8 and Yoko, which is excellent. Well done and good luck to all.
ORCV Land also extends on to the ORCV Facebook page, so make sure you go and "Like" the page, now. 228 Souls already have and thank you to each and every one of you.
