ORCV Melbourne to Geelong (M2G)
Not done - just yet...
Ah yes. The penultimate round. Often referred to as the championship round in a lot of sports. The third quarter in Australian Rules Football is often referred to as the game maker, too.
Right then. So many images, so much fun during and after racing - well, it just has to be the M2G!!!
With the sun settling down low, as the remnants of Winter are shed and some gaps appeared in the fleet, Steb was able to turn a hand to the artsy fartsy numbers that I really like and wax on lyrical about, whenever I get the chance. A little like Darryl Eastlake, when you think about it...
So then, Warner Wolf we are and many thanks to Steb Fisher for the use of his images.
Let's open proceedings with said artsy fartsy numbers... Clockwork and Wicked are the two closest boats.
Hero shot.
Yes it is a different image - see end of Wicked's boom...
Follow the yellow brick road...
What a choice!
The Loan Ranger is Halcyon - penultimate finisher.
Like the launch sequence to Buck Rogers in the 25th Century!
Challenge, Clockwork and a little bit of sun.
All aboard Challenge.
Another Ichi Ban - a position Challenge are well used to being in and deservedly so. One week later, they would take out the Colts little bash at Geelong on the very same waters... They also took out the Colts prize from Ullman Sails in the 2010 MWS.
More Ichi Ban - not surprising, really when you look at their crew work. Mark Bulka driving by the looks of it.
Wicked arriving...
This sequence shows just how many images you have to look through and each one has a great 'Steb' and the sun on the crew just adds to it all.
Starting to work it out now.
Yep.
Nearly everyone's attention.
Love the water.
Wide angle now.
Steb!
Mike Welsh even spotted our man, now...
Faces. Rare one of Mike facing the camera. He of the Loud Shorts actually has pants on - must be cold! The Girl is next to him, beaming as ever. Mark Welsh grinning in the middle there - good thing I know the face or you wouldn't be able to spot him.
Good shot.
Better.
Best.
Stephane Howarth's Mille Sabords, which means that's 316 Man's legs on display there...
How are the colours?!
GEM.
316's hair!!!!!!! Wow.
Faces.
Stephane on the wheel.
Greetings.
Afterguard even turn to camera.
Yes. The sun is coming from that angle!
Cheers.
Clockwork arriving ahead of Wicked. One week later to the day and Clockwork would be leading the Colt series that was being run at Geelong.
How's the difference in heeling angle.
Good hiking lad.
Eyes left!
OK. Starting to get some faces.
Shadow of the shooting boat appearing in hull of Clockwork.
Faces!
2nd from left now hiking.
See ya gang.
Well. It was a good journey. You can go to the bar now.
Think YES - and you're on the way...

Thank you to Monica Tonner and Richard Hunter from SYC for ensuring Steb had a ride and we, therefore, have all that imagery, which just seems to go down an absolute treat. |
