ORCV Melbourne Winter Series (MWS)

Did someone say breeze?

Below are the observations from Fawkner Beacon for the day, so you can see that slide off to very mild as the Division Two and Cruising with Spinnaker boats went to the line.

Whereas below was what was happening at my place at the same time - check out the 120% spikes in the gusts!!! Now they're bullets.

OK. Off to the Division One tables for Race Five of the 2010 MWS.

On the day, Goldfinger put her waterline length to good use and overcame her rating.

Division 1 IRC results Start : 09:40:00
Place Sail No Boat Name Skipper Fin Tim Elapsd AHC Cor'd T Vis
1 8880 GOLDFINGER P.Blake K.Mitchell 12:09:44 02:29:44 1.291 03:13:18

3 SM2 CHALLENGE Lou Abrahams 12:35:33 02:55:33 1.109 03:14:41

The series to date runs hot and you have Goldinger sitting just outside the top three, so expect this to be one category to be fought over all the way to Geelong.

The 40somethings own the AMS category and boy are they making it interesting. Jazzy's turn today.

Division 1 AMS results Start : 09:40:00

3 SM2 CHALLENGE Lou Abrahams 12:35:33 02:55:33 0.997 02:55:01

Still Wicked at the top, but with Jazz Player sitting just outside this group, it will remain hotly contested, even if just for the minor places.

May not get spoken about as much, but still seen as a good reward for effort and often quite tight indeed. Jazzy day today, indeed.

Expect the Finger to guard this posi most vehemently. Jazz Player certainly on the march of late. Clockwork, Wicked and Ninety Seven not out of it all together yet, but maybe for just a place.
