ORCV Melbourne Winter Series (MWS)
It's a beautiful day!
"A lovely sail, flatter than anticipated with the breeze staying mostly out of the North at the 20knots mark, but by 1300hrs it had actually slid back down to 10. They sailed Course Two, so it was a short beat to R2, then a kite run down to SPG and a long beat back up to P3. Mostly windward/leewards for the day", was how Rear Commodore, Simon Dryden, put it.
"A bit cloudy and a bit rainy, from time to time, with the odd squirt about", was Steb's input. "We collected a black jacket that stepped off for a swim from Extasea and it will be at Hobbos for collection", he added.
Little wonder then that the gold boat led them around the track then. Peter Blake and Kate Mitchell's Goldfinger crossed the line at 1209hrs, then it was XLR8, Extasea, Jazz Player and Ninety Seven. The last boat of Division One was Mille Sabord who got over the line at around 1252hrs, just as the leader of Div2 approached, which was the RP36, Gienah. Young Ones and Nutcracker followed her.
In fact, you could say the day was completely Auric - The Gun, 1st IRC and 3rd PHS!!!!
