ORCV Melbourne Winter Series (MWS)
Living the dream.
Our Peter Blake caption competition winner, from New Competition, is Shane La Peyre. Shane used to have part of the hugely successful Farr1020, Vapour Trail. He's a very tidy sailor and a happy lad too.
A while ago, he and Maryvonne decided to go and live the dream. They sold the house, put the gear into two containers and bought a boat to do a circumnavigation in. Rockin! There was a small set back when Shane fell off the boat whilst on the hardstand and has had six months with braces, pins and a whole lot of metal in and on his leg, but they have got it all sorted and they are off. Well done. Mucho, mucho respect.
Apart from all that, Shane managed to send us the winning email for the Peter Blake competition, which is below. We'll hold the prize in escrow, until they get back in a couple of years...
"Hi there. I write this to you all from the Caribbean Sea, as we start our circumnavigation with our Beneteau Oceanis 50, which we purchased in St. Maarten. I have been actively following the website with all the news and well written articles about the M2V and the start of the MWS, too. Over here at the moment in St Lucia, it is 2215 hrs, 31 degrees Celsius with the humidity at 75%."
"All I can think that my good mate, Peter Blake, is saying as he finished that race is, 'That race was ball shrinking cold!!' Pete is a great bloke and never seems to miss an event. I had his son Simon here for two weeks around two months ago.... I don't see him in the shot!!!" (Well yes. Peter's sons are good value and always a delight to go for a yacht with...)
"Keep up the good work. Congrats to all those in the M2V.... and the ORCV." (Aw shucks, Shane, but the Committee, Steb and all involved, thank you!)
"Cheers - Shane La Peyre and Maryvonne aboard SV Gem"

Tied up at Lagoon Marina.

Look closely and you can see some of the Titanium still straightening him out! Breakky looks OK too...
That's one hell of an address you have there!
