ORCV Melbourne to Geelong (M2G)
Fool and his DSLR - Part One.
Proving that they'll let anybody out on the media boat... Some fool with a DSLR has turned in this lot of pics from the 2011 Melbourne to Geelong event for your perusal.
Really then, that says it all and the rest is just up to you...
This is Halcyon, but who is the Bowman. You know the deal; if you do know, let us know - via
Team BO and the CBD, with Schüss and The Secretary.
The mighty Nautor's Swan 65 (S&S design), Independent Endeavour, comes marching in to the starting arera...
Carbon v Steel - good thing there's lateral separation, otherwise I know which one I'd be backing in...
Ocean Safari goes past the Committee Boat to let them know they've arrived. Freestyle1 also in view...
Said Committee Boat on the day - RYCV's Cerberus and the Officials, whom we must always thank.
Toecutter - unfortunately for them they took on an awesome amount of water through the for'ard hatch and that put paid to any plans of a win on the day. Would have been hard having sailed such a great Winter Series in 2011 and led up to Race Six. Commiserations team...
Mrs Overnewton came past to show they were a starter...
Aboard FullyNPushing just before the start, but a broken main would see them retire after making P3.
Audacious (The reigning Love Boat) are back out after a spell of and appear to be loving it!
Farr 30 Optimum on the left, with The Secretary and White Noise at the start of the Div2 race, which was a much cleaner affair than the other two divisions.
Runaway, Matrix, Joint Venture and Toecutter 2.
Little Herbie Racing Team, in the centre, also retired with mainsail issues. The Bookmaker from Hobbos, Upbeat, Laurelle, The Cappers, Magazan 53 and INSX also in this group of Div2 as they started.
Biddy Hu II love a bit of ink, Magic is in the centre and White Noise is to windward of The Secretary here.
Yet another of the Two-Handed outfits on the day is Burggraaf and Hibbert on Remedy (2013 M2O EOI holder). 5985 is eventual Lord Warden Trophy winner, INSX, then there's Laurelle and White Noise. Ding dong battle for the entire journey amongst a lot of these Div2 boats...
Div2 gets away, with Upbeat, Under Capricorn under reef, The Secretary and Magazan 53 in view here.
Independent Endeavour is 65 feet (and 34 tonne) - little Gomez in behind her is 30 feet and probably 4 tonne... Vladimir's Escapde is in front...
Kerina goes and sticks her nose in it!
The Jeffery's PYT front and centre, with Noeleen III to the left and Streetcar to the right.
Peter and Marissa from Hush - good to see the boat out again...
Tresor went to Launceston at Xmas last year. What are the plans this year, team?
Ocean Safari begins the journey to Geelong and it looks like they're doing their bit for ocean grading, which the 51st Project talked about in the 2010 Melbourne to Vanuatu race.
Seems like the fool did an OK job, we might just let him have another run at it...
The M2G is now done and you can get the results for that race and the entire MWS, right HERE.
Follow it all here and via the ORCV Facebook page, so make sure you go and "Like" the page, now. 175 Souls already have and thank you to all of them.
