ORCV Melbourne to Vanuatu (M2V)

Commodore's Baton.

All good Commodore's get presented with a baton (Geoffrey Rush was keen in Pirates of the Caribbean), but on George's recent trip to the Cook Islands, he got presented with an even better opportunity than getting his own - to take part in the Queen's Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games. Nice.

George tells me that, "I went to Cook Is to be there for the arrival of the Vaka, which were the original Polynesian ocean going canoes. They had just completed a 4000nm voayge, but arrived on night I was leaving and anchored right offshore of my hotel room, to be able to "arrive" in daylight (Hmm - who's that like). I wondered if we have new entrants/members for the ORCV?"

Quite possibly George. We can all see these 'Vaka' in action HERE.
