ORCV Melbourne to Geelong (M2G)
Are we there yet, Mum?
Well, actually. Yes. Cruising with Spinnakers were the first to arrive at the top of the Hopetoun Channel, where the Brass had very judiciously placed the finish line, given the brisk Westerly that had arrived and hung in for the afternoon. If you were stuck in the Carrum Bight or milling around, trying to get back to R2, 60kn on the snotter at 44South almost seemed preferable. Yes, almost!
Still. I'm told that if you still had your bucket of chicken by that stage, everything would have been OK... The kids would not have been arguing and the tummies would not have been grumbly and the minds a little anxious. Isn't that right Robbie, Hugo and Mitch?!
Many thanks to Steb Fisher for the use of his images.
At the time, we all got a sneak preview of this shot and even now I marvel at the fact there is green involved in the slopes over the Scotchman's Hill area.... Line Honours went to Vicsail Savoir Faire - The Sav!
A good little sequence of The Sav, follows.
This is kinda cool.
Great shot.
Bow on and a nice 'Steb' - more than considered for hero pic.
Well done, team...
Take away the wets and this is real brochure material.
This too got more than a look in for the hero pic status.
And as for a jubilant crew? Yep. Certainly a chance. Had they have done the whole MWS, Malcolm Eaton and The Sav may well have got up to be our new Happiest Crew on the Water, which still resides with Audacious...
This image of Galaxy was my preferred choice, but as a thumbnail, it just did not punch as hard. Great image!
Another great image at the 3/4 angle... (They shoot cars a lot from this relative spot too).
So. Given that Steb takes a lot of great images, It was not long before I found this as a 'substitute' hero pic. Committee Boat, You Yangs, the drama of the clouds - cool.
RGYC Commodore said of his Bundaberg, "... maybe a little rusty, but still trusty!" We're just delighted to see her and all of her club mates join in the M2G.
Comfy times.
Very Adams, which is important, seeing as she is one...
Gerard O'Brien and the crew of Valiant were another of the Geelong entries.
Paul Lindemann's Biddy HU II comes barrelling in, with Paul Commins' Dionysos tacking over on to the same board.
We featured Biddy Hu II before last year's M2HE. which you can read HERE.
Howdy.
And we thought that this was Paul himself, but it is Craig 'Killer' Shepherd. Interesting choice of nickname, when you have that Surname...
So here then, is Dionysos...
Coming to get ya...
Oh. Come on. You can look at us. We won't bite (too much).
Paul Commins and crew of family and friends - read about them, HERE.
Jackstaff and burgee - very Gucci.
Malcolm Mitchell and Caledonia. Good fun crew and you should see the crew job titles on their entries!
One story about them, is HERE.
This is a fine image.
Robert Wood's Ocean Safari.
They joined us in the racing division last year, so it was great to see them again and support the new cruising division.
Thank you.
Ocean Safari comes up to the lay line that Caledonia is on.
Yes. It is safe to say, that there is more.
The full MWS results are HERE.

The Colts (Sydney 38s) are having their own fight within the battle - many thanks to Ullman Sails for providing the prize. |

Many thanks to John Kint, Brian Case, Dianne Rose and the many, many helpers at RGYC for making it such a great place for us to get to. |

Thank you to Monica Tonner and Richard Hunter from SYC for ensuring Steb had a ride and we, therefore, have all that imagery, which just seems to go down an absolute treat. |

It is with thanks to our friends at PredictWind that we've been able to supply such detailled information throughout the entire 2010 MWS. |
